Sacred Connections: Soul of Advent for Spiritual Leaders

Photo by Alex Padurariu on unsplash.com

The part-time pastor; The full-time Church program features two virtual events titled “Sacred Connections: Avent Soul Tending for Spiritual Leaders” led by one of the program’s Circuit Riders, Erin Matteson, an ordained minister and spiritual director. Matteson invites all ministers on Friday 3 Decembere and Monday 13 Decembere to “come and enjoy a creative contemplative worship pot to warm your spirit and nourish your soul this Advent season. Scriptures and sharing, silence and song, poetry and prayer, images and other ingredients will be mixed and served in a tasty dish not only to nourish ministers, but also to promote vitality for the season of Advent.

Two different virtual sessions at two different times are offered on each of the two dates to help accommodate the varying schedules of ministers. It is hoped that ministers will set aside this brief amount of time to look after themselves and fill it as they take care of others. Register for free virtual events before November 30 on Sacred Connections. Contact [email protected] with any questions about the event.

Presenter

Deb Oskin

Deb Oskin has been filing clergy income since 1989, when her husband left seminary to pastor a small rural congregation of the Brethren Church. As a pastor’s wife and later as a tax expert, she learned about the tax issues and pitfalls associated with the IRS identifying clergy as “hybrid employees.” In 2011, after twelve years at H&R Block, Deb left her practice to found her own tax practice, specializing in clergy taxes. Clergy clients now represent 75 percent of its clientele.

Deb was ordained in 2004 when she was called by the Living Peace Church of the Brethren in Columbus, Ohio, to be their minister of peace to the community at large. She served as the Chair of the Southern Ohio District Board of Directors from 2007-2011 and was the 2018 Southern Ohio-Kentucky District Moderator. She currently serves on the Compensation and Pastoral Benefits Advisory Committee. of the denomination.

She has been teaching and presenting nationally on Clergy Taxation to Clergy, Treasurers, Administrators and Tax Professionals since 2004. Besides the fact that she really enjoys speaking, Deb does so because of her profound belief that the clergy can devote more of their energy. to the ministry if they are not stressed by the tax debt.

Deb is an experienced presenter, and despite the complexity of the material, you’ll find yourself laughing. Learn and enjoy!
