Ludhiana: The Income Tax Department on Monday hosted a live webcast of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’ event at the city’s Kundan Vidya Mandir auditorium. Officers from customs and GST (goods and services tax), banks, trade bodies, CAs and law societies were also present. The event included an interactive session.
The host department released a statement that read: “The Prime Minister inaugurated the week-long program at Vigyan Bhawan in Delhi in the presence of Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, while 75 major cities watched the broadcast. The Prime Minister also launched the Jan-Samarth Unified National Portal for Government Credit Schemes to help beneficiaries log in, review eligibility criteria and apply online. Financial inclusion and the circulation of money were highlighted during the event. Various other departments of the two ministries, such as the Central Board of Direct Taxes, the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs, the Department of Financial Services, the Auditor General and the National Institute of Financial Management Arun Jaitley will organize other events during the week. .
